Read the sweet letter Barbara Bush once wrote to Marge Simpson

Former First Lady Barbara Bush, who passed away on Tuesday, once had a bit of a brush with TV's Marge Simpson. When the show's team learned that Bush didn't like The Simpsons, she received a letter from Marge and responded with an apology.

"Dear First Lady," Marge wrote in a letter dated Sept. 28, 1990, "I recently read your criticism of my family. I was deeply hurt." 

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bush once called The Simpsons "The dumbest thing I've ever seen."

Marge talks about her children and about not speaking ill of people – as well as the fact that "dumb" is relative, especially in politics.  Read more...
